Computer Jobs in the terrace ...
Today we worked all day. We've sent mail to the printing of our book, Point and Talk. We have received an inquiry from a slightly larger customers, so when it so we want to see what we can get for the price of a new order. We have also been in contact with the shipping company several times about how we go about getting the paperwork and everything about the import of bikes to Thailand.
Since we wrote last we left Nha Tran and came with the plane to Hanoi. We took the bus from the airport and went back to the same hotel, Hanoi, Legend Hotel, where we lived before and the receptionist was very surprised to see us again. But because we came so early to Hanoi, we wanted to spend the evening in Hanoi and not at a hotel outside the airport. On the bus we started talking with a guy from Australia, Melbourne. His name is Jamie and he came with us to Hanoi Legend and they had a place even for him. Later that evening, he ate with us o to The Irish Wolfhound.
It was fun to walk into the small Irish pub and get a warm welcome from everyone there. It is so easy to get to know people when you're traveling, and most are so friendly. Jamie also likes it there and he rebooked his flight so he could stay a little longer in Hanoi. We exchanged addresses with him and when we come to Australia we were of course welcome to visit him.
We sat for a while down in the intersection and watched the people and traffic. This was our last chance so we sat there and tried to feel the atmosphere before we could leave the city again early the next morning. Hanoi is a bit left in our hearts, big and messy but very charming in its own small way.

Even at Hanoi's international airport there are a bit chaotic rules. Eg did not checkin stands up on the board of departing flights, they may find it myself. Once we found where to check in people just stood in one big lump, and those who were quickest was helped as the next man. When we would go through security so it is good form to take up their computer and show it, but there is no need to do this, they just waved and said we could put it down again. They did not look for liquids or other dangerous things that other security is so sure.
Airports are a bit chaotic places around the world. Even when you come to Bangkok, there is a bit chaotic when you walk into the arrivals hall. Hundreds of taxi drivers trying to get attention and declares that if you just go with them, you will get a cheaper, better and safer to travel wherever you go. Our advice is, ignore them and take a local taxi, or if there is take an airport bus into town.
Last time we came to Bangkok, we were fooled that there were no "ordinary" taxis available, so we went with a couple that "only" wanted 500 baht (about $ 100) to drive us from the airport to our hotel. We were tired and it was late so we accepted.
This time we went down to the 'real' taxis with fare meters, and this time was the trip of 280 baht. It is not money but the feeling of being cheated. Now we are in all cases in Bangkok and the journey continues ...

Our second typhoon

Right now we are back again in Nah Trang, in the same hotel as before, and the same place.

The receptionist was in any case, glad to see us again ...
Before today we went out to the airport to fly to Ho Chi Minh, but it did not. All flights from this airport were canceled because of strong winds. So we had to go back to Nah Trang and queue on the Vietnam Airlines office to book our tickets.

When we drove out to the airport as roads were flooded and people waded around in water up to their knees. Cars and scooters drove into water pools and it cascades sprinkled on them. According to a report we heard, it has rained almost 300 mm today, and winds of 35 meters per second in the medium. It was reported that 11 people died here in Vietnam with the weather.

But shame not give up, we had booked our tickets so tomorrow morning we make a new attempt to get out of here. But now we skip the Ho Chi Minh City and we are trying to go directly to Hanoi instead.
If it does not work to fly tomorrow morning so it will be enough so we can book the ticket to Thailand as well, because then we never catch up to Hanoi in time. But optimists who we are, we believe that we will leave tomorrow morning ...

Money, Money, Money ....

A little about what it costs.
pengar
... Vietnam is a bit cheaper than at home.

A taxi ride from the airport in Hanoi to Hanoi old town cost us $ 7 (50 -) It took almost two hours to go on this trip because it was in the middle of rush hour traffic.
In Hanoi we stayed in the middle of old town in a hostel which was ok. Things are a bit more expensive in the big cities and this room, with shower and toilet, minibar, WiFi in the room and a large comfortable double bed costing $ 28 per night, expensive. (SEK 200 per night)

In old town you can sit on the small terraces on the street on low plastic chairs. Here you can buy beer directly from a stainless steel barrel. Not the world's best beers, but it is ok to drink the thirst in the heat. Such glass is 3 000 VND (about 1:20 SKR) Do you have a bottled beer may be up to 15 000 VND (about 6: -)

We were on a trip to Halong Bay, the bus ride back and forth, food in two days, entering the cave, overnight on the boat, etc. This cost us $ 63 each. (450 -) a real tourist thing and then it cost. But I thought we had something for the money anyway.

The bus trip from Danang to Nah Trang cost 20 USD / man. (Approximately 145: -)

Our hotel in Nah Trang went to 12 USD / night (around 85 -)

We were out yesterday and ate at an Indian restaurant, I had a rice dish and drank a beer, Kjell had Indian meatballs, rice, bread and beer. It is a bit expensive to eat at the Indian restaurant so we ate "expensive". It cost 175 000 VND (about 70 -)

Would you eat a little cheaper a noodle dish or noodle soup around 15 000 - 25 000 (6-10 - so you can live very cheaply here if you want.

Long coast ....

We are in Nha Trang and we rode the bus from here in Danang. It was an extraordinary experience, I can say. 50 mil on a bus that wound up the narrow, bad roads, in 12 hours. It was said in advertisements that you could sleep until we arrived in the morning in the comfortable seats. One half sat half lay in the narrow, lumpy bunks which did not much room to change position during the entire trip.
skumpbussen
But ... it was an experience to ride with them and I would not like to have it undone. The whole trip, we were overtaken and drove on in roads that were not really built for two cars side by side, let alone three cars in width as it sometimes was when we drove on despite the fact that we were meeting at the same time. Traffic here is not quite as safe and secure at home in Sweden, but ... do you want it so you can always stay home in Sweden.

We had booked rooms at the Sea View Hotel, via the internet and I am surprised how well this works. We have done it so many times now and always there is a place for us on arrival. Sometimes you get answers from them, sometimes not, but they have always received our booking and preparing for our arrival.
solig strand
The beach here in Nha Trang is wide and beautiful. We were down a little trip after we slept a little while in the morning, after we got our hotel room. There was not much sleep on the bus here so it was nice to rest for a while.

We managed to book a flight on to Ho Chi Minh because I do not know if I am so eager to spend another twelve hours on a new bus. But ... it's typhoon season here and we are waiting in a storm during the day so we'll see if we can fly to Ho Chi Minh in the morning. It gives itself time.

We have just been down at what was a beach yesterday and took some pictures of the high waves rolling up. Some of them are quite incredible, and worse, apparently well-being during the day / evening.

The traffic here in Vietnam is chaotic. Any attempt to run on everybody, at the same time. While buses and trucks run on each other all the time and nobody cares about that, running over solid lines and things like that. Very often it is dangerously close to traffic on the road. Everybody is honking and flashes the light all the time. If you do not want to be sick so you can help but watch the traffic and let the chauffeur take care of driving the bus.

When we arrived at Halong Bay, we jump on board a boat with cabins where we would sleep.

Hanoi, capital of Vietnam, about 4 million people, it is Viet Nam's second largest city after Ho Chi Minh City.

It will only be scared, then fascinated, then impressed. How can the people to navigate their way here. There are a myriad of mainly small motorcycles and mopeds, but also of reaching people, männsikor cycling, cars, buses, trains and taxis that honk incessantly. All honk the stone.

One can forget about going on the sidewalks because they are crowded with market stalls, small terraces, playing children, parked bikes, and everything else that is not expected to stand in the way of one on the sidewalks. If there are now 4 million people who live in Hanoi, you can find them all out on the sidewalks of this is where they live their lives. They eat, drink tea, eat fruit, or dinner that can range from frogs, snakes, dogs, or for that matter ordinary pig or cow. They play games and play or just sit o talking to each other, but it is on the pavement they are.

There are people sitting on the furniture at home regarded as children's furniture and it looks a bit funny when Westerners large pinches down on these small low chairs. It is messy and dirty on the ground and glass, crockery and cutlery are not really clean. But the food is good, service is fast and quite ok, the prices are low and it is a fantastic atmosphere among the low tables.

Traffic rushes on around you and if you are lucky, it's a couple of feet between you and traffic. Cafés spread out into the streets and if there are more people coming, they simply presented a few more chairs and spread out a little bit further, into the street. But this is a Memorandum of town, if something is the way of a drive so you simply around.

This is how it works, traffic flow around you. It 's crowded all the time but it happens surprisingly little accidents, if it relates to how many people are on the streets.

Then we walked past the Hanoi Train Station and the central parts of the city before we went home to rest after 3 hours of walking in 30 degree humid heat.
