Changed Landscape ...

full-moon

Full moon ... The whole camp is bathed in subdued light the moon. We sit in the shadows from the tree next to our tent and just enjoy it a bit cool evening breeze that cools our legs just yet. A luxury to be able to sit in shorts after a full day in the hot motorcycle pants. A few meters away from us sits a small Wallaby and graze grass. It is very alert and sitting up straight and look around, and in light of the moon you can see how its ear scan of the entire surroundings while chewing. A few dogs barking in the distance and vallabyn become completely still, listening for a while after the sounds together and then calmly on. We pluck away the leftovers from our dinner and go to our desks and stuff when we get back to the tent is the small vallabyn away. Probably had it studied us ready for this time ...

A little petrol must have sometimes ...

Croydon (S18 12 110 E142 14 760), The camping here is that most of the campsites we have been to in Australia. There are toilets, showers and washing machines. The rest must be borne by yourself. Sometimes there is a grill or an outdoor kitchen, but not in this camp. When we paid our $ 22, we asked how much this society was and then told the lady at the counter - yes, you know, I certainly believe that it lives about 250 people here if we take the "stations". I would think that the stations are farms in the municipality. But fortunately we live in anyway next door to one of Telestras big antennas so we have full reception on our 3G modem to the computer.

Shrubs, trees and termithögar ...

Yesterday when we left the east coast seriously changed the landscape quite promptly. From being lush and green with forests, it became more and more small trees and shrubs, sparser and sparser between them and so grass, sometimes green and lush, where there is water, or yellow shades.

landskapet7

Fine road ...

Very nice, probably because it is different from what we've seen so far. When we turned right where the road one way and 63 are separated, against Georgetown were the changes more pronounced.

landskapet3

Lane ...

The road became narrower and narrower for the longest time just to be one car wide and the gravel edges that run out at the meetings. Long-distance switched it to be quite small road.

landskapet1

Gravel road ...

Scary when you meet the "road trains", which is long truck with three carriages long lagging behind. They may be on this road not be longer than 50 feet ...

Unfortunately it looks very dead animals along the roadside. On today's journey, I think we have seen 10 dead kangaroos, probably an equal number of small Wallaby and one bird and a few snakes.

landskapet5

Dead animals along the roadside are everywhere ...

But it is full of animals here so that's inevitable that some of them end up as food on the way to the other ...

So we leave the East Coast and drive west ...

Pool as I sit in is hot, about 40 degree water body surrounding me and it's nice. It is completely quiet and dark around us as we sit in the hot coil which is heated by hot springs of the stream has been on the campsite worn in Hot Springs (S17 39 928 E145 14 307). The sound you hear comes from the few other guests, but they are very quiet, and frogs. Millions of small frogs that sound like a great bubble comes up in a mud puddle, Blubb, Blubb, bluuubbb. There are also hot in the air, about 25 degrees, that is about eight o'clock in the evening. We shower of us and dress for the evening is a very important game on TV at the pub next door. We have been in Cairns a few days and provisioning alloy. We bought some new camping gear and filled the stores of canned food and dry goods so that we can stay in the outback.

We have had good company at the campsite and met nice people goa. Andy "Billybotswans" Todd, and a couple from Tasmania, Farmer Maxine and we will try to keep in touch with. We've had some nice days together and it's strange how fate sometimes brings together people with similar interests.

Cairns is a pretty small town, with some great beach walks and a nice little town center. Like other cities, it is related to shopping and everywhere in the center were the expensive boutiques and expensive restaurants or cafes.

The best thing about a motorcycle is that you can not buy anything because there is not room for a way to Pinal.

But now it's time to roll on. From Cairns we first drove north along the coast for a while and in Mossman we turned south again on the small roads in the mountains.

In Rave Shoe we came out number one on the road to take us west. This is where we are now, in Hot Spring along the worn road number one, west of northern Australia ...

Crocodilians ...

krokland1

Karin with a small American aligator ...

Well here we are in the northeastern corner of Australia, in Cairns. Here are the crocodiles and other dangerous animals who rule the waters. We are reluctant to bathe in the sea because this can occur both jellyfish is deadly, sharks and korkodiler. If you want to swim, there are pools.

Since we intended to run with our bikes in the northern parts of Australia where there are a lot of dangerous animals in the waters we might as well learn a bit about how to avoid them ...

Crocodile Farmer ... There are a lot of crocodile farms in northern Australia. We visited one in Innisfail, along the Johnston River.

Here we got a lot of information about crocodiles. Among other things, that they are very sensitive to vibration. On the softer skin underneath, they have sensors that detect the slightest movement or vibration. They said all the crocodiles on the farm probably felt when we drove into the parking lot with motorcycles and every single step we took in and around the farm. You could also see the crocodiles that they responded directly to the movement. If you stood still for a moment outside a game so they relaxed and seemed to sleep. The first step then reacted in the direct, opened his eyes and looked straight to the site. There are large animals.

krokland5

Nah you should probably practice a bit before you get breakfast ...

An adult animal can be between two and six feet and weighing between 100 and 400 kg. They have the world's most powerful bite and will not be happy at all again once they got hold of a replacement. They drag down the change in the water and the "death roll" that.

They can not eat underwater, but they kill their prey in the water and then they eat it up above the water. Is it a small change they swallow it whole, otherwise they take hold of a piece of the spoils and "rolls" and tears in this way by a piece big enough to swallow because they do not chew their food.

krokland6

This guy got his breakfast directly ...

They are smart animals, lies in wait, and can monitor their prey for hours, days or months. They do not eat as often as they can control their metabolism by simply lie still and just wait. They let the change go down to the water O drink several times before the attack. This gives them the opportunity to study the change and learn how they work so well when they attack, it is almost one hundred percent certain that they take their prey.

Australians love their crocodiles. They have learned to live with them and think we exaggerate when we think they are dangerous. Are not they dangerous and protect their turf, but did not go home to them since. Let them be left alone where they live so they let you be. It is rarely that happens accidents with crocodiles where Australians are involved. Usually it is people from other parts of the world who get into trouble because they are careless and do not take the threat seriously from the animals.

krokland7

Solbandande crocodiles ....

Remember never to walk in muddy water, salt or sweet, along the coast. The water crocodiles are very fast and you have no chance to run or swim from them. On land, it is not so fast, you can run from them. At the water's edge, it is also very fast because they use the power of the water and will postpone the water like a torpedo. Avoid water unless you are sure that there is korkodiler ...

Australia ...

At the campsite you meet a lot of "gray nomads' as they call themselves. Retired couple who sold everything they have for money and bought himself a large caravan or mobile home, since they are traveling around Australia and looking for the best weather. They live in all possible and impossible trucks and cars, but some things they all have in common. They are happy, love to travel, live simply and they are curious about the strangers like us.

Good on you ...

When you drive around here you meet so much nice people everywhere. All stops and talks and gives a tip on where it should go, what you have to see, where you have to live and so on. If we were to do that as the tip if we get enough to stay in Australia for 10 years or so ...

We are sitting on a dog farm outside of Ingham and has good company in Matt Klement. It is he who owns this place. We met him but for supermarkets and after several minutes of chit-chat he invited us back and here we are. We pitched the tent on his lawn and otherwise, we can use his bathroom, laundry and kitchen.

Matt is a fun guy who takes life as it is, and he dropped out of a nice computer job in the south to carry out his dream to breed hunting dogs. He bought a small farm and have for five months working day and night to get to a simple house to live in, to kennels and everything else to be when we shall live in the country. He has also started up a page on the Internet to sell their dogs and training them. Here you can see his page: www.klement.com.au

This is so nice so we stay here tonight too since we drive further for tomorrow.

Yes, it was celebrated ...

As everyone probably already know, Kjell celebrated his birthday yesterday. Thanks for all the congratulations ...

A birthday kiss on the beach ...

We celebrated it quietly at a small camp in Haliday Park. We lit a fire in the stove and cooked a little food. We had bought a bottle bubbelvin Kjell and celebrated with a good salad, some fish and lime, good. The fish we got a guy who lives here at the campsite, Brownie. Thanks for the fish to both yesterday's dinner and for breakfast ...

Today it is warm. It's probably around 27-28 degrees in the shade. I have frizzy down my feet in the sand and sit looking out o the waves rolling in towards the country.

Agnes waters7

Sand between my toes ...

Those in this camp, First Point Camping in Agnes Waters, says that this beach is the last beach to waves because only a short distance north Great Barrier Reef begins. We have just had a bath and sit in the sun warms us because it is winter here so there are only about 20 degrees in the water. I'm not long in the water in any case, for there are too many dangerous things there. Sharks, stone fish, jellyfish and other strange things that you should watch out for. There are in all cases, no crocodiles this far south.

Our neighbors at the campsite has three children and they run around on the beach and collect everything possible, as hermit crabs, crabs and insects as they can find anywhere. The little guy offers me a peek into the bucket and indeed there is in most cases.

That's nice by the beach, there will be a little breeze now and then that smell sea salt. The sand is white and smooth and flowing between my toes when I wobble to them. Nah it is time for a dip into ...

When we drove from the campsite at the Australian Zoo, we drove to a new camp which was nice down at a beach a bit south of Bundaberg, and that's where we were, to Bundaberg romfabrik. It took about an hour to walk around to look at the factory, but we did not see as much of it was mostly closed for repairs. We did not have cameras or anything with us so there was no photo from inside the factory.

Agnes waters1

It was in all cases a photo outside the factory ...

From Bundaberg, we drove a short distance, about 100 km to Agnes Waters, this was such a nice little camping and the beach so we decided to stay two nights. When you have time to wash a bit and look over all things and motorcycles. I (Karin) managed to cut me. It is easier with Kjell, he cut himself with us a little trimmer that we bought in Japan.

Agnes waters2

Glenn and Allan, maybe we'll come upon them again ...

We met two guys, father and son, Allan and Glen, of Bundaberg. We suggested the following to Agnes Waters and stayed in the same camp. It turned out that they also must run round about the same as us. So we will probably see them again down the road.

Agnes waters5

Here we have almost all the family there Phillips is the only dad Mick has taken, thanks for letting us get to know you by. Hope to see you again ...

Australian Zoo

We haVi has seriously started our round.

The clock is eight in the evening and it is dark. Outside barbecue kitchen where we sit chirping birds on their last LITTLE SONG for the evening and bats have already been active for one hour. We have pitched our tent on a camping by the beach in Bundaberg, romens capital of Australia. Here is a giant factory where they make rum, rum in the rum and cola.

O We have been visited our friends who live in Robina. Rick and Billee live in a lovely field and we got a single room with a very nice double those days we were there. Since Billee was not home at the weekend we drove a little motorcycle with Rick, in the mountains and around Robina, Surfers Paradise and all the other lovely beaches around here.

Thank you for letting us stay with you and that we had a nice weekend with you ... bundaberg1

The day we left Robina drove Rick O Billee with us a long way up along with the east coast.

bundaberg2

The worst of it down to meet friends is to be distinguished from them again ...

We parted, and they drove south again and we drove up to Landsborogh where we found a nice campsite.

We set up our tent and built a camp for us we could stay here for two nights. Landsborogh is just a stone's throw from the Australian Zoo, Steve Erwings zoo as we have seen so many times on TV.

bundaberg5

So the plan was that we could spend an entire day at the Australian Zoo. Said and done, we went off to the zoo at 10 times and we just walked around there all day.

We both got to see elephants, tigers, crocodiles, kangaroos and all other animals that were in the park. They had very many different kinds of birds that were trained and flew around the park freely during the show. Glad to have seen this in real life ...

bundaderg12

When we came back from the zoo, it was almost a tent next to ours, it was a couple who drove a motorcycle around Australia in his two motorcycles and had that nice trailer for the motorcycle who was camping trailer. There was the whole thing, tents, beds, outdoor space, stores and everything else. They were almost home and had been out for 3 months.

bundaderg13

This was what remained when it was packed ...

We packed up our camp early next morning and left camp about 9 o'clock. Our goal was to Bundaberg and we had put a route in the GPS Kjell except Noosa Head.

Here we stopped for a while and took an ice cream. As usual, when you stop somewhere, people up and talking to one today and it came up a couple from NZ. They talked about for Kjell to have seen us in any newspaper in New Zealand, so obviously we have been involved in some sort of article in a newspaper without our knowing it ...

Blah blah blah ...

So much talk ...

Sometimes it has destroyed. Today we had planned that we would run between point A and point C with between break at point B, as usual, we packed up our things and were ready at around 9:30 and then came the few past and wondered if we would run long. Yes, we must drive far, we said because we are on the way home to Sweden again. Nah, ohhh, huh huh, and hood length.

bla bla
Talk, talk, talk ...

So we had to tell you again about our trip, and where we already run and how the plans for the future looks like. It's fun to tell and talk about our trip so time is flying on and presto, it is at 10:45 instead to silica in 10.

We stopped shopping and Kjell was left out of the motorcycles o suited them while I was and when I got out of the three great deal unknown guys and talked to Kjell. They asked and asked and answered them before we all had it gone another hour of our day.

We had to drive in and fill in the next little town and he has worked at the station itself had been traveling some with his motorcycle as he was of course interested to learn where we've been and where we were and wanted to read our blog. He had lots of tips where we absolutely must travel, and showed more than happy on the map were all nice places fanns.Där went to a small hours.

So despite all our plans and both fine weather and excellent motorcycles we only had time for the staging of then it was time to make up days before camp ended and became dark.

But there is so much fun, that people are interested. That they have questions and are curious rather than envy and missundsamma.

Surfers Paradise / Robina ...

Australia's east coast beaches are pretty nice.

We agreed to Rick and Billee living in Robina (S28 23 622 E153 4721). We met them in Thailand, sat and talked for a while at home in a common friend's house, where they lived then. It turned out that we had a lot of common interests and we exchanged addresses and we were invited to their home in Australia and when we came on the road. Here we are, we came this way ...

Billee is unfortunately not at home at the moment but Rick and we took a little trip in his car yesterday and looked at all the nice beaches around the area. We are one of Clarke's Beach Holiday Park in Byron Bay, those most eastern town in Australia. A while ago the sun went down over the mountains farther up and all young people who played volleyball on the beach ball had to give up without a designated winner, because it became too dark to play. It is full of people in the campground by the beach grill kitchen and talk a lot of different languages. Man is a creature traveling ...
